“Skeleton Porn” uses stop motion animation techniques and green screen technology to depict the intimacy and tenderness of touch frame by frame. The project began as an honoring and offering to queer and trans lives. It seeks to comment on the fact that as trans people, we are often defined by the way we fuck and the way we die. By taking this grim fact, bringing it into the light, and then subverting it with the joy of loving connection, even in death, “Skeleton Porn” takes viewers on an eyeopening and self reflective journey into their own relationship to queerness and sex and the ways it is depicted and consumed by our culture. To show passion and tenderness in death enables one to consider these acts in a new way as we live. Bones are within all of us, so we are able to watch these vulnerable encounters simply as they are, and recognize ourselves within them, regardless of our backgrounds.
